For Knotty, we wanted to encapsulate the Cabo lifestyle by creating an inviting & funky lounge by day that transforms into a state-of-the-art nightclub by night. We achieved this by mixing refined materials with rough woods and eclectic artwork. On one wall, a 20ft. graffiti style mural of a beautiful women with Dia De Los Muertos makeup on gazes out over the crowd while giant custom liquor bottle chandeliers twinkle above head.
The centerpiece of the space is a dancer platform equipped custom metal tree sculpture that branches out throughout the space. We had to be creative with the limited square footage and create different experiences by making functional art pieces. For example, the wood plank feature wall behind the DJ consists of carved, life size wood arms gripping onto rope light pendants. Organic materials such as driftwood, reclaimed barn wood and rusty steel are layered with exaggerated Technicolor orange & pink Mexican print booths that line the dance floor, giving the place an unpredictable spin. The space is both visually spectacular and playful. It’s a place you could go for a special celebration or show up in shorts and flip flops and crack open a corona.
