At Cake, San Diego we wanted to create a space that was sexy, intimate and feminine. A unique and special environment that would cater to “bottle service clientele”. Our objective was to combine modern technology and theatrical lighting with “over the top” design. Our client came up with the idea of using Marie Antoinette as an inspiration. We then took this traditional neo-classical design and re-invented it by adding “nontraditional components”. Some of these features included a pink poodle wall, Andy Warhol inspired wall paper, a “let them eat cake” neon sign and a topless French lingerie model peering downwards from the entry soffit. Creating an extremely extravagant traditional environment and then breaking if up with W.T.F. features makes the space extremely cool. A sexy bedroom environment layered with “funky” surprises.
